Our commitment

At the heart of our Compliance Program lies a commitment to excellence and ethical conduct in everything we do. It serves as a beacon – guiding our actions, decisions, and interactions with integrity and transparency. But more than just a set of rules and procedures, our program embodies our corporate culture — one built on principles of trust, accountability, and responsibility. We are committed to:

  • Conducting business lawfully and with the highest degree of integrity.
  • Ethical, environmentally and socially responsible management of our business activities.

Our initiatives

Compliance and ethics

The QIAGEN Compliance Program is a comprehensive framework designed to guide QIAGENers in navigating an increasingly complex legal and regulatory landscape.

From financial regulations and data protection laws to anti-corruption and bribery measures, and human rights, our program encompasses all aspects of compliance relevant to our operations.

We uphold the highest ethical standards in research and development, ensuring that our high-performance products are brought to market responsibly. Our clinical studies for diagnostics adhere to the Declaration of Helsinki, Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and ISO 20916 standards, prioritizing the well-being, safety, and legal rights of study volunteers. We do not conduct any animal testing or related research activities.

Sustainable procurement

Our commitment to responsible sourcing is reflected in several key initiatives and practices. Notably, 95% of our overall purchasing volume comes from OECD countries and we require all our procurement employees to undergo training on the Supplier Code of Conduct.

Acceptance of a QIAGEN Purchase Order automatically signifies acceptance of our Supplier Code of Conduct, reinforcing our commitment to ethical standards. We engage in discussions with key suppliers through strategic review meetings, which also cover ESG topics.

In instances of non-conformity with our Supplier Code of Conduct, we actively work with the supplier to develop a corrective action plan and monitor their conformity.

Tax accountability

We are committed to conducting business lawfully, ethically, and with the highest degree of integrity. These fundamental values and principles are key to our long-term success and the basis of our tax strategy.

Tax is part of our corporate governance and is supervised by the Managing Board. Our tax function is centrally managed and controlled by our Global Tax Department, which is part of the Global Finance organization. It is led by the Global Head of Tax, who reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

We seek and engage in open dialogue with our stakeholders, including relevant tax authorities, our shareholders, customers, business partners, employees, governments, regulators, NGOs, and the communities in which we operate.

Our commitment

Preserving the trust of our customers, partners, and employees is at the heart of everything we do. Our commitment to data security goes beyond compliance—it's about safeguarding the security of our services, products and sensitive information entrusted to us.

By making appropriate investments in cyber-resilience and continuously enhancing our security measures, we give everyone whose data we handle— customers, patients, end-users, and employees— confidence in its security. Our approach focuses on minimizing cyber risks. We aim to meet and go beyond industry standards, ensuring a secure environment that fosters innovation.

Our cyber security initiatives

Our cyber security awareness culture is strong. We have mandatory cyber security awareness trainings for all employees. We also conduct regular 'phishing' simulations, providing all staff members with an opportunity to interact in a safe manner with up-to-date phishing threats as observed from real threat actors. We offer frequent awareness webinars and workshops on important security topics. Additionally, the cyber security team regularly conducts incident response exercises to evaluate the organization's established procedures.

To facilitate information and knowledge exchange, we have joined well-known industry and governmental cyber security communities like the Information Security Forum (ISF), Allianz für Cyber-Sicherheit and Health-ISAC.
