Isolation of nucleic acids from FFPE tissue samples or liquid biopsies is the first step in many analyses in cancer research. From sample collection, through stabilization and storage, to nucleic acid isolation, there are critical parameters to consider – to enable sensitive and reproducible analysis by digital PCR, qPCR and next-generation sequencing.

This event will address the challenges that you face every day in the lab when working with FFPE samples. We will also discuss new easy-to-use, fully automated methods to isolate cell-free DNA and to enrich circulating tumor cells and isolate their mRNA with our panel of experts in sample preparation. You can look forward to a broad, but focused discussion on sample preparation to kick-start your analysis and boost your cancer research.

About the speaker
Martin Schlumpberger, Ph.D., Director, Product Development
QIAGEN
Dr. Martin Schlumpberger is Director, Product Development at QIAGEN, focusing on exosomes and circulating, cell-free nucleic acid isolation. Before his current role, he successfully led the development of various RNA isolation products at QIAGEN, including RNeasy FFPE, RNeasy Plus, AllPrep DNA/RNA, miRNeasy and QIAsymphony RNA Kits. Before joining QIAGEN, Martin worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases at UCSF, USA. He holds a Ph.D. in chemistry, with a strong focus on molecular biology and yeast genetics, from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.
Siegfried Hauch, Ph.D., Director, CTC Research and Development
QIAGEN
Dr. Siegfried Hauch joined QIAGEN in 2001 where he has held several positions in Marketing and R&D for the enrichment and molecular characterization of circulating tumor cells (AdnaTest product portfolio). He studied biology at the Albert Einstein University in Ulm and received his Ph.D. in 1997 in plant physiology and molecular biology at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen. Siegfried is Director of CTC Research and Development at QIAGEN in Hilden, Germany.
Andrea Huxhold, Ph.D., Senior Scientific Marketing Manager
QIAGEN
Dr. Andrea Huxhold is a Senior Scientific Marketing Manager and joined QIAGEN in 2014 as a product development scientist at the joint venture with BD, PreAnalytiX. She developed the PAXgene Blood ccfDNA Tube and QIAsymphony PAXgene Blood ccfDNA Kit. Andrea Huxhold majored in molecular biology while studying human biology at the University of Marburg, Germany where she graduated in 2009. She then completed her Ph.D. thesis in tumor biology research at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University Clinic in Aachen, Germany.
