Sustainability

Environmental responsibility

We are investing in protecting the environment, striving to prevent and mitigate negative impacts of our business activities, products, or services.

Our commitment

We’re committed to reducing reliance on plastics in production, transport, and packaging while maintaining product quality. We’ve adopted a "reduce – reuse – recycle" strategy to minimize the negative environmental impact of plastics we use.

Our initiatives

We have a global team dedicated to changing the way we use plastic and exploring environmentally friendly alternatives. We are:

  • Replacing plastic packaging materials with sustainable alternatives
  • Investing in eco-friendly packaging equipment
  • Exploring alternatives to fossil plastics for product parts
  • Encouraging our employees to drive sustainability awareness and generate plastic reduction ideas
  • Working on product development guidelines for eco-friendlier products

Embracing sustainability in modern labs

Check out Q-rious Episode 2.

In this episode, we discussed practical eco-friendlier lab practices; waste reduction options – from packing to products; understanding the ‘Environmental Impact Factor Label’; and what sustainability means to us as scientists striving to be experts in sustainability.

Step up your lab’s eco-friendly practices by learning how to efficiently recycle your labware and cut down on plastic waste. Download our practical recycling guide.

Our commitment

We recognize climate change as a significant challenge and are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated our near and long- term emission reduction targets of a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and net zero by 2050.

We are dedicated to engaging stakeholders – including employees and customers – in addressing environmental concerns and influencing supplier choices.

Our initiatives

Climate risk management

We have dedicated working groups and committees to manage climate-related risks and opportunities, integrating climate considerations into existing risk management structures.

Energy sustainability

The measures we are taking to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions include transitioning to green electricity and implementing energy-efficient technologies.

Optimizing Scope 3 emissions

Our Scope 3 emissions management involves enhancing data models, conducting circular economy assessments, and collaborating with suppliers to identify low-carbon materials and recycling solutions.
