What controls are used in the KRAS and EGFR PCR kits to ensure reliable results?

Each KRAS PCR and EGFR PCR kit contains an internal control assay in each well. This is a self-contained reaction consisting of a known-positive synthetic template, matching primers, and a Scorpion probe labelled with HEX. A Positive control is used for each assay also using a synthetic template for each mutation, and a negative control (NTC) is used to ensure that reaction mixes are not contaminated. A ΔCt analysis is performed on the positive control, the NTC is assessed for contamination, and also for the performance of the Internal Control before the samples can be assessed.
