Principle

QIAsymphony RGQ can save you time by processing up to 96 samples, from sample to result, in one integrated run. A dedicated range of kits enable open or closed systems for molecular testing.

QIAsymphony RGQ is the integrated system to maximize your efficiency and optimize your workflows, from sample to result. QIAsymphony RGQ synergizes the automated sample preparation and assay setup on the QIAsymphony SP/AS with manual transfer to the trusted Rotor-Gene Q for detection. The QIAsymphony SP automates sample preparation from a wide range of sample types. The QIAsymphony AS delivers highly reliable and reproducible PCR assay setup and is highly suited for laboratories that perform complex PCR-based molecular testing on a day-to-day basis. The QIAsymphony AS enables setup of multiple assays per run or sample and supports artus QS-RGQ products, for a complete CE-IVD compliant workflow, as well as in-house assays. The Rotor-Gene Q enables sensitive, precise real-time PCR analysis with CE-IVD-marked artus QS-RGQ Kits or in-house assays.

Procedure

The QIAsymphony RGQ workflow starts with purification of nucleic acids on the QIAsymphony SP instrument. The eluates, containing purified nucleic acids from the sample preparation procedure, are transferred to the QIAsymphony AS module, which performs assay setup. The assays are then manually transferred to the Rotor-Gene Q for PCR and data analysis.

To suit individual workflow requirements, there are 2 modes of system operation: integrated or independent. In the integrated mode, samples processed on the QIAsymphony SP are transferred automatically to the QIAsymphony AS, reducing manual handling steps and documentation. For added flexibility, the QIAsymphony SP and AS can also be operated independently of each other in independent mode. See " QIAsymphony workflows".

Applications

The QIAsymphony RGQ is the most versatile system for all molecular testing needs — today and tomorrow. The QIAsymphony RGQ allows consolidation of commerical assays, as well as in-house–developed tests, on a single platform.

The broad range of applications for open and closed systems includes:

  • artus transplantation panel (CMV, EBV, HSV, BK virus, and VZV)
  • artus blood-borne virus panel (HIV, HCV, and HBV)
  • In-house tests

FAQ

The QIAsymphony RNA kit uses RLT plus as lysis buffer. Can samples lysed in RLT and then stored in the freezer be used on the QIAsymphony?

The RLT buffer is more viscous than the RLT plus buffer. Extraction will work fine, but there may be some magnetic bead carryover to the eluate.

FAQ ID - 3533
There is no barcode on the QIAsymphony cooling adapter, and the instrument asks for one. What do you suggest I do?

The barcode on the adapter at the cooling elution position is read by default. This can be changed in the configuration settings which are available from the tools menu if you have logged in as Supervisor. The option is on the tab Process SP1 and is called ”On which elution slots should the bar codes be scanned”. To disable the barcode reading, put the setting to ”none”.

FAQ ID - 3532
What is the elution volume for all CE-marked artus QS-Rotor-Gene Q assays?
The elution volume for all artus QS-RGQ assays is 60µl.
FAQ ID -2432
What is the batch size of the QIASymphony Rotor-Gene Q and how many PCR´s can be processed per assay module run?

With the QS-RGQ the user can process 1 to 4 batches with 1 to 24 reactions per specific batch. RNA assays are limited to 72 reactions in total.

For PCR:  216 reactions for DNA and 72 reactions for RNA viruses can be performed.

FAQ ID -2433
Is barcode reading supported by QS-RGQ?
Yes. The procedure in more detail is described in the instrument handbook.
FAQ ID -2437
Is it possible to process samples on the AS-module while SP is running?
Yes. A connected as well as an independent operation between QS-SP and QS-AS is possible.
