Product Details

Vortex Adapters conveniently maximize vortexing on the Vortex-Genie 2 Vortex and shake multiple tubes at the same time. Vortex Adapters hold tubes horizontally, which increases the contact surface area of beads and sample. Superior efficiency saves time and improves yield. Adapters are available for microfuge 1.7 or 2 ml tubes (cat. no. 13000-V1-24), 5 ml tubes (cat. no. 13000-V1-5) and 50 ml tubes (cat. no. 13000-V1-50) for bead beating, long mixing times or other unique applications.
Vortex Adapters are not recommended for use with temperatures below 4°C.
These adapters have been tested for use with tubes formerly marketed by MO BIO only.

Procedure

Before use, all adapters including the 3-inch platform head should be removed. To do this, grip the platform firmly with both hands and press upward, rocking back and forth to pop out the adapter. No special tools are required to remove the Vortex Adapter or the 3-inch platform head with nibs, however initial fit is very snug.
Adapters have a particular orientation: The bottom of the vortex adapter is a flat surface. Incorrectly orienting the adapter will damage it and may cause it to fail at high speeds, leading to loss of samples or injury. To install the adapter, align the flat surface with the flat side of the plastic nub on the Vortex-Genie 2. Pressing firmly straight down should snap it into place.
Tubes are always inserted into the clips with the cap facing the center of the adapter. The 1.5-2.0 ml tube adapters will click when the tubes slide in. Tubes need to be balanced when vortex is running, using a minimum of two tubes every time.
