Product Details

The ipsogen RT Kit is an in vitro molecular diagnostic kit that provides reagents optimized for reliable and accurate reverse transcription using the Rotor-Gene Q or other thermal cycler instruments. The kit is intended for reverse transcription of total RNA into cDNA for subsequent molecular diagnostic testing.

Principle

The ipsogen RT Kit is a ready-to-use kit for reverse transcription of total RNA into cDNA using reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR). The kit provides highly accurate and reproducible reverse transcription of total RNA into cDNA. Reverse transcriptase is a multifunctional enzyme with 3 distinct enzymatic activities: an RNA-dependent DNA polymerase, a hybrid-dependent exoribonuclease (RNase H), and a DNA-dependent DNA polymerase. In vivo, the combination of these 3 activities allows transcription of the single-stranded RNA genome into double-stranded DNA. The RNA-dependent DNA polymerase activity (reverse transcription) transcribes cDNA from an RNA template. This activity allows synthesis of cDNA for cloning, PCR, and sequencing.

Procedure

The first step is extraction and determination of quality and quantity of total RNA. The second step is reverse transcription of total RNA into cDNA using the ipsogen RT Kit.
